CHRISTPHURCH, July 18. The Arbitration Court to-day heard applications for enforcement of awards. Baker and Co., under" the tanners' award, were fined £3 and costs for paying less than Is an hour to employees under 21 years of age.

Moore Bros, wore oliargcd with not paying men overtime on a contract. The case was dismissed, and the Labourers' Union had 1 to pay two guineas costs. C. Page was fined, under the 'coachbuilders' award, £5 for failing to indenture an apprentice.

Proceedings were taken by the inspector of awards against the' Ohristehurch Press Company, the Lyttelton Times 'Company, and Whitcombc and Tombs (Ltd.) to obtain an enforcement of an award and agreement, which were alleged' to provide that employees in the printing trade in Christchurch should be paid for certain holidays. Evidence was called that holidays had never before been paid' for by master printers in Christehurch. Counsel for tho respondents stated that if the application grajited it would moon a. difference to the three firms of about £150 a year, and if back pay were awarded it would amount to between £/000 and £8000. Decision was reserved.
