NEW YOEK, July 16. is suspected that a- spark from the Georgia's funnel ignited the ' powder. The concussion and firs injured all who were in the turret.
The details show that while a charge of 2001b was being lifted from the hoist two seamen noticed that the cover was smouldering. They shouted a warniixr and threw themselves on tlie floor. A terrific burst of flame followed, cuid the turret was filled with emoke and noxious gases. ■*
A number tried to oficapo through the hatchway. Some gained the deck and jumped into tin; sea. The chaplain was the firet to enter the turret after the explosion.
Among the injured two more deaths are reported, and six are in a precarious condition.
