Merriinan thanking tlio Imperial Government for "ranting responsible government to the Transvaal and Orange River Colony, and expressing the liopo that tlio federation of- South Africa would follow. Dr Jameson bantered Sir Merriinan for coming to the rcscue of the Imperial Government, and declared that all South Africa . wanted responsible government, lint some thought it ought to comoearlier and some later,
Mr Xncodore Schreiner refused to vote, declaring that the Imperial Government had betrayed native interests by granting unconditional responsible government.
