Sir,—Your correspondent Mr Charles ,Samson writes that I made a statement t,ho City Council that is ' altogether inaccurate." In ccply. I iriah> the following statement.: that cattle have been 6i&ughtor«<l at the city abattoirs after being condemned by Mr Crilruth (the Government's chief voterinary surgeon),.alro by Inspectors. Ironsides, Bruoc, Goisagc, and Fountain; that out of the 131 cattlo condemned during tho nwSnth of May only about six wore condemned whiob belonged to butchers or meat salesmen trading in Dunedin, Port Chalmers, otc. During the month of Juno out, of nearly one thousand, butchers' cattle slaughtered only about six were condemned. Verb sap!-r-I am; etc., July 1. Thomas Ssuts.
