PERRY'S BIORAMA.
A new and excellent series of animated pictures was shown by Perry's Biorama. Company at the Princess Theatre last.night.. In A Tnp Through Paris" the buildings on the banks of the Seine and the bridges spanning it are seen. The panstereorama of Lake Gonova 'is picturesque." and tho views 'of .Lisbon while going up the Tagus in a steamer prove interesting. The sisters Eva and Ida' Brady are seen and heard to advantage ini their duet, " Dora whore the 'morning glories twined ■ for whioh last . ai*hjt l they were repeatedly encored. " Down on the old Swanoe" is sung with grace and' pathos by Miss Eva Brady, and Miss Ida •Brady's well-trained voice is highly effective in the rather difficult song "A thousand leagues. There are altogether 18 separate picture events shown-scenic, humorous, and pathetic. "The Watermelon Patch," besides being provocativo of mirth, is an interesting study at' the American negro,' 1 while " Punch and Judy" is rather a sad illustration of tho vicissitudes of life. The entertainment is good throughout, and the pictures on the sheet are remarkable for thedr steadiness. Perry's BioßtTmi will continue for ioiir nights, and a matinee is billed for Saturday after*' noon. , ALHAMSBRA THEATRE. There was a bumper house at the Bowling 1 street theatre last ■ evening, when Fullers' Entertainers, strongly constituted, gave a first-class performance of the week's bill. The audience w;as moat appreciative of everything that was presented. Tho Quealye, the Atlbergs, Victor, Harry Linden, Sam Wilson, and the Maynards (chic serios), and othcra contributed to n programme that is excellence personified. The company will appear in th« same, programme this evenir^.
CONCERT AT ROSLYN. ~ ~k concert under the auspices of the Roslyn Young Women's Bible Class wast held on ■Wednesday evening in the Roslyn Presbyterian Church Hall. The audience was a very large and appreciative one. The following •ladies and gentlemen assisted:—Mrs Munk-man-Dempstor (song) Miss H. Gard'ner (song). Miss Dick (violin solo). 'Miss Cowie (song),' Mlbs Bentham (song), Miss Darling (recitation), Miss N. Chisholm and Mr W. Strang (duet), Mr Wright (song), Mr Lindley (recitation), Mr Morrison (song), Mr Stokes and party (selection), Mr Falck (song), Messrs Wright. Falck, Se&rle, and Lemon (quartet), and Miss Dawson (pianoforte solo). The accompanists were Miss Dawson and-Miss Middloton.'
PHILHARMONIC SOCIETY. Tho public is reminded that the above >
society's second concert this season takes pfetoa in the Garrison Hall to-night. An excellent programme has been arranged, including "the "Tho Prologuo in Heaven" to tho opera, " Mepliestopheles" (Bceto), and "Casee Noisette" (Nutcracker), by Tschaikowsky, which will be heard for the first time in Dunodin. Begg and Co. have kindly lent tho positive grand •pipe organ used at tho opening of tho. New Zealand Exhibition. Mr C. S. Black will" sing " The riderless steed " (Hassell) and " Tho pilgrim's song" (T&ohaikowsky).
RECITAL OF CHAMBER MUSIC. It is now some years since Dunedinitea have had an opportunity of hearing a programme of tho above, and, with a combination including such artists as Mr Gladstona 801 l and Miss Arline Thackeray, both members of the Tale Exhibition orchestra, a musical treat 18 in store for those who appreciate instrumental gems. Other artists assisting include Mr Max Schorek; Miss M. Sale, and Mir R. D, Nimmo, To make these conoorts flavour of popularity popular priccs have been adhered to, and patrons can now book their seats at the Dresden Company's warehouse, where the l'jx plan is open to the public. CAPPING- CARNIVAL. The public is reminded that the students' capping carnival takes place in Ilia Majesty's Theatre to-morrow evening. Thfs year's carnival promises to - exceed thoso of all previous years. ,No pains or expense has been .spared in preparing the programme, and the faroc, song, and waxworks will be up to the usual Btand&rd of exoollonce. Tho carnival commences at 7.30 p.m., and t!h doors will open at. 6.30 p.m. The box plan is now open at tho Dresden, aijd day sales can bo obtained at S. Jacobs's.
