(Received June 28, at 9.20 p.m.) In reply to a deputation from the miners on strike Mr ISotha refused to promise a Compulsory Arbitration Bill on the ground that as it could not bo retrospective therefore it would not affect the present strike. LONDON, June 28. (Received June 28, at 9.20 p.m.) Renters Johannesburg correspondent states that the principal mining and other business houses are retrenching in view of the forthcoming repatriation of Chinese. Land and house property has considerably depreciated, and the r.'hit^s employed oil the Rand have decreased by 2000 owing to the strike.
