Company cabled the following report regarding tho London meat market:—Value of beef has declined Jd all .round. Quotations: Canterbury mutton, 41d; Napier, Wellington, and North Island, 3Sd. Lamb—First quality, 5Jd; second, sd. Beef—Hindquarters, 3Jd; fores 3|d.

AUSTRALIAN FRUIT IN HAMBURG. Messrs A. Moritzson and Co. inform us that the following prices wero realised in Hamburg for Australian npples and pears ex s.s. So'ingen, which were sold by auction in Hamburg on the 11th May:—Jonathans sold from 15s 3d to 15s 9d per bus. case; specially selected, ISs 3d to 20s 3d; Cleopntriis, 15s to 21s M; Five Crowns, Ms to 15a ;id; Adam Permans. 12s 9d to 15s 3d; lieinetts, 7s 3d to 9s. Pears; Choice, 22s to 235; medium, 13s Gd to 13s 3d; poor quality, lis 3d.

HIDE SALES. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company report:—We held our usual fortnightly aide yesterday. We offered a full catalogue to a lull attendance of buyers, and bidding was keen for a'l classes of hides at prices ruling a fortnight ago. Wo had very heavy ox to dispose of, our catalogue being composed principally of country lots, and we have no top figures to quote, our best price for this class being GJd. others selling «t GJd down to 5Jd for medium weights and 5Jd for light. We had, however, a very fine line of cow hides, which sold at from 5Jd to GJd per lb, tho latter price running into -10s per hide. The range of values may bo stated as those o( a fortnight ago. - Calfskins and yearlings were competed for in the same brisk manner as then, tho former selling at from 2s Gd to 4s Gil each and the latter from 4d to 5d per lb.

Messrs Stronach, Morris, and Co. report as follows:—We held our fortnightly sale of hides on Thursday, 27th inst., when we submitted a - catalogue totalling 453. Competition, taken all round, was good, and prices, with the exception of light-weights, were up to last sales. Light-weight hides, both ox and cow, however, showed a decline of }d per lb. Our top price for ox was 7}<l, paid for olio hide weighing Hlbs, and we also sold a 7til> hide at 7d. In cow hides wo realised the extreme price of GJd, paid for two lots of 721b and 711b. In money va'.uo we sold ox to £3 lis 7d and cow to £1 18s 3d ouch. Tho following are actual prices paid at; our sale:—Prime stout bean' ox hides, GJd to 7{d; good heavy do. 6d to GJd; medium weight do, Cjid to 5Jd; light weight do, 5d to 5Jd; staggy and inferior. 3Jd to 4Jd; best heavy cow hides. 6Jd to GJd; medium weight do. s}d to SJd; light weight do, 5d to s;d; inferior do, Id to 4Jd; yearlings, ljd to GUI; calfskins, I'd to GJd. Doiuld lieid and Co. report: — We held our ordinary fortnightly sale on •Thursday, 27tli inst., when we submitted a large catalogue to a representative gathering of buyers. Bidding: was brisk up to a medium price, but prices were, if anything, a shade lower than those obtaining a fortnight ago. Extra stout ox, GJd to 7Jd; good heavy do. Bid to GJd; medium, 5d to 5Jd; light weight, 4Jd to s}d; best, cow, Od lo s{d; medium, 5d to 5Jd; light, 4Jd to 5Jd; inferior, 4d to IJd; bulls, 3d to -Id; calfskins. 4d to 7d.

The Otago Farmers' Co-operative Association of New Zealand report: We held our usual fortnightly hide sale on Thursday. 27th inst., when we submitted a cataloqucof 4.i3 hides, yearlings, and calfskins to a full attendance of buyers. Competition throughout the entire sale was brisk, but, compared with last auetio:], prices all round wero easier. Our catalogue was made up principally of country consignments, most of which were in splondid condition. We had one or two lots of good stout ox hides, but the bulk of our catalogue was made up of medium and light weights. Quotations: Prime stout heavy ox. GJd to 7Jd; heavy ox, Gd to 7Jd; stout medium weight ox. GJd to GJd; medium weight ox and cow, s*d to 6d; light-weight' ox and cow, 5Jd to Gd; bull hides, from 3Jd to sd; yearling, from ojd to C£t!; calfskins, from 6£d to 7d per lb.
