Tho master of the Manuherikia dtedge reports ha-ving started dredging at 11 o'clock yesterday morning. The secretary of the Paterson's Freehold Company reports tho following returns for Inst week:— No. 1 dredge, 2'3oz sd\vt; No. 2 dredge, lloz sdvrt. Repairs to Ilie Electric No. 2 drodgo were completed and dredging resumed lato on Friday afternoon Inst.
It was expected that file Alexandra Lead clredjjonni.st-or would have completed repairs las', night and commence actual dredging operations with the B.o'clook shift this morning. The Wftdk&ia dredge was lost week working in the western section, which was widened to tako in part of what was formerly called the middle section. This was done up till Tuesday, when tho dredgo wae shifted into the middle section. The hard bar of " old. man" still continued in the west section, but towards the close of the week had narrowed down somewhat. Red clay bottom obtained over the remainder of the face. The ground in Hie middle section was deep aid drifty with tho exception of iv chain on the east side The ground varied in depth from 22ft on the west to 27ft on the middle section. The Mystery Flat dredge worked 133 hours last week on a cut 14 chains wide. Tho ground hod not undergone much change, and the gold continued , to be fairly evenly distributed throughout the ince. The secretary of the Nokomai Hydraulic S'.uicing Company reports that at No. 1 elevator the run of boxes and all plant has been dismantled, removed, and re-erected, and a division wall buiit. The work of deepening and straightening the creek at the foot of the saddle gully was to commence yesterday. Work at No. 2 is progressing steadily, but the heavy nature of the ground makes tho work slower. Pipes are being sledged up the zig-zag for the line to bring the water on to No. 3, and tho deviation at the Lion race is in progress. The directors of the Koputai Gold Dredging Company have declared a dividend of Is pjr share, payable on Friday next. DUNEDIN STOCK EXCHANGE. Nothing of interest eventuated on 'Change yesterday.
