The Japanese papers contrast the reception of Prince Fushitni with the disastrous failure of Takahashi, of the Bank of Japan, who was unable to raise fresh loans in Europe, and only succeeded in obtaining the renewal of existing bonds with Hie help of Prance. The newspapers assert that immediately upon the refusal of America to assist Takahashi the Rothschilds demanded exorbitant terms. Germany refused help, and France only responded in return for the promise of the receutly-aiTaiiged treaty. Owing to the spread of unrest in Korea Marquis Ito has urged the Mikado to accept his resignation ae Premier. The Chief Commissioner at Manila. ha& advised that tenders will open on the Ist July for 6,600,0001b of frozen beef and 290,0001b frozen mutton during the year ending June, 1908.
