LEITH WARD COUNCILLORS ENTERTAINED.

A meeting of supporters of the Lcitli Ward representatives 011 tho City Council was hold last evening at tho Carlton Dining Rooms, Dowling street. A very pleasant focial evening was catcrcd for by Mr and Mrs Todd, in a manner which did them much credit,

In reply to the toast of "The Representatives of the Ward," .Mr Small said it was evident from Che recent results that in future contests the candidates would have to fight a more or less arduous battle.

Cr J. K White, and Or H. H. 8. V,'trite replied in suitable terms.

Cr Arklo referred in eulogistic terms to tho influence upon the City Council of Cr J. Small. In giving the toast of "Tho C-ommerci.il Interests," lie remarked that Britain was truly in a better position than ever she was. Dunedhi's municipal trading was in the ritrht direction.

The successful candidates for Leith Ward were congratulated by Mr Maitland and by /Mr J. Milnes (chairman of the Ratepayers' Association). Mr Taplev and others also spoke, their remarks being oxtrcmely well received. During tho evening a capital programme of songs and instrumental music was gono through.
