WELLINGTON, May 3. ilr Ritchie, Secietarv for Agriculture, who has just returned from tho South Islaud, says tho outlook for wmter in Otago and Canterbury is nono too promising. In some places the country is very dry indeed. Showers have fallen, but tho rainfall lias not been suflioicnt to nuke appreciablo difference in the growth of turnips ahd grass. Owing to the continued dry weather ,i kind of fungus lias appeared in 6ome of the turnip crops. Shoep aro looking well, but there is no knowing how tboy will pet on during tho winter, as there will be no surplus feed for the osst few juQßitej.
