LONDON, May 2. Renter's Pretoria correspoiuiant states that Mr Smuts, the Colonial Secretary, replying to a Labour deputation, said tho Government was determined to repatriate the ChineEC at the earliest possible opportunity, and to absorb all unemployed whites.
Mr Rotlia, win was the guest- at a dinner uivc-n by the Transvaal banking, commercial, and mining interests, declared that his Government would not attempt to deal with the labour question before .1 drastic inquiry had been instituted. He desired to see lite existing mines continue, and others to he opened in the near future.
