THE RAGE FOR REPRINTS

Mre Gaskell's" C'ranford " has now been added to the World's Classic*, and with it is given, in the same volume, a sketch railed "The Cage at Crauford," which appeared us late as November, 1863, in "All the Year Bound," and has not hitherto been reprinted. Messrs Longmans, Green and Co. aro adding to their admirable new " Pocket Library" Mr Lang's "Letters to Dead Authors" and "Voccs Populi," first series, by F. Anstoy.

Messrs Blackwood and Sons are issuing a sat of handsome volumes in their " New Popular Edition" of George Eliot's works at 3s 6d net. " Middlemareh " occupies no less than 600 pages, 5 x 8, with gilt top, in handsome cloth gilt cover. Each volume has a. photogravure frontispiece by a well-known artist, and each work is complete in one volume. The next issues of this edition are "Romola " and "Daniel Deronda."

Miss Betham-Edwanls's " Home Life in France," which was such a success in its original form, has been published by Messrs Methuen in a very attractive edition, with illustrations, at" 6s. Their series of classics de luxe—the Panel-books—having been so much admired, Messrs Sisley , are encouraged to establish a companion library, tho distinguishing feature of which will be that every volume will be devoted to standard fiction. The richness of production wliicli characterises tho Panelbooks will be equally marked in tl» Novel-books—the name by which this new series will be known. The format is to be identical with that, of the Panelbooks—x 3|in.—and a very chaste design has been chosen for the covers. There will be special (end papers, frontispiece, and title page, and an exlibris book-plate. The type for the Novol-bonks is large and clear. The price will be 2s 6d net, in purple lambskin, full gilt edges. The first- titles are: "The Black Tulip," by Alexandre Dumas; " The Vicar of Wakefield," by Goldsmith; " Christie Johnstone," by Charles Reado; "Oliver Twist," by Charles Dickens; "Cranford," by Mre Gaskell; "Silas Marner," by George Eliot; "Asmodotis," by I.e Sage; "A Sentimental Journey," hy Sterne; "Salambo," by Flaubert-; "Wuthering Heights," by Emily Bronte; "Sapho," by Daudet; and "Talcs from the Decamerone."
