SURVEY OF THE NEW ZEALAND COAST.
STATEMENT BY THE MINISTER OF : MARINE. (Pee United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, May 2. The Hon. J. A. Millar slates that (ho Prees telegram regarding the survey of the New Zealand coast by the Hinemoa is incorrect. The Minister is negotiating, through Sir Joseph Ward, to secure for this work one of the Admiralty sloops at present laid up at Hongkong. If tho sloop is secured she will be manned and worked by the New Zealand Government, and will commence with the survey of tho cast coast of tho Xorlh Islai'd—Bear Islam! and Kidnappers and other points that arc wrongly charted. When the North Island survey is completed tho South Island charts will be tested at various points. If the existing charts are incorrect a new eurvoy will bo made,
