Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, April .24. (Received April 25, at 12.40 a.m.) Judgment- lias been entered by default, in Dublin for £65,000 against D. E. Williams and Patrick Smith, distillers, at the instance of the inland recenne authorities, owing to defendants' failure to issue per-, mits correctly with parcels of spirits.

The London Daily Mail of February 18 states: —" Our Dublin correspondent telegraphs as follows: 'A sensational development, has taken place in connection with the alleged whisky irregularities in Ireland. I am reliably informed that writs have ken. issued' at tho suit of the I.nlaixl Revenue authorities against- three separate, firms in Ireland. In the ease of the first firm tho claim !,s for forfeiture of no loss a. sum than £65,200 for penalties under the statutes relating to the revenue of Excise by reason o( tho contravention of various sections of the Spirits Act of 1830. The case against tho two other firms involves a claim for £200 forfeiture, as tho penalty by reason of a contravention of the. same act. Although it. is a. fast that two revenue officials visited the town in question recently and caused the roadway to be dug up in" the iieiebbourlicod of the distillery, the allegation in regard to the underground pipe theory is discounted in the town. Nothing definite is known of tho manner in which the alleged irregular practices were carried on.'"
