BRITISH RULE IF EGYPT
LORD CROIIER AND HIS SUCCESSOR. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, April 12: Tiio Earl of "Cromer's letter of resignation of his position as Consul-general arc! Minister in Egypt emphasised that no political considerations o£ any kind whatever wero associated therewith. Nothing, iio says, could be moro effective- or generous than the manner in which the Government had supported him. Sir E. Gray and Mr Balfour eulogised Sir K. Gorst. Everybody, they said, knew how. anxious he was to carry out intact the Earl o£ Cromer's marvellous policy, and they wished him success. ■ The Times says that Sir E. Gorst goes to Egypt with an infinitely fairer prospect than did Lord Cromer in 1885.
