SCHOOL COMMITTEE MEETINGS.

The monthly meeting of tho Kajkoiai School Committee was held last evening, and was attended by Messrs Moir (in the chair), Scott, J. M. Wilson, A. Perry, Stark, and Calder, while apologies . for unavoidable absence were received from Messrs. Hiitbeson and V. Wilsoa.- The Master reported that the number of pupils on the roll was 660, and th° average aticudsnco 531. He also reported that Master Ralph M'Dor.ald had resigned hip pupil toachership on the ground of ill-health. The Visiting Committee reported very favourably regarding the work of the staff and the condition of the school grounds. The chairman and scretory were appointed to draw up the annual report for presentation to the meeting of householders. - The Union Street School Committee meeting, held last evening, was attended .by Messrs H. Islip (chairman), It. Jl'Kinley, G. Campbell, G. C. Israel, J. Dick, A. Miller, E. Stratton, and F. Canning.' Tho Ilcad Master's report for hst month showed that the total roll number was 535, and tho average attendance 483. There, were accumulated funds in the school penny savings bank amounting to £122, The various sub-com-mittees submitted reports showing the school to bo in a satisfactory condition, Accounts amounting to SI 7s 9d were passed for payment. All other business was left over until the first meeting of the incoming committee, It was resolved to place on record the committee's satisfaction at the courtesy and attention to business displayed by the chairman (Mr 11. blip), who suitably acknowledged the compliment, and it was agiced that all present members of committee should submit themselves for re-election at the meeting of householders.
