Tho Pioneer Lodge, 1.0. G.T., held its usual meeting in iho Lower Ohoral Hall on Tuesday night. Bro. D. Gain, C.T,. presided, and there was a, full atiteidsuico oi members and' visitors. The principal business was the consideration of tho Grand Lodge business sheet. The discussion on the various suggestions was at times very animated. After recess a debate was taken on the question " Should Capital Punishment be Abolished?" Pioneer taking the affirmative, it 3 leaders being Bros. Gain and Cook and Sis. Cameron, and Rescue Lodge the negative, its leaders being Bros. Hilton and White and Sis. Walling. After air interesting debate the affirmative was carried by a majority of one vote. The visitors' vote wae ackonwledged by representatives of Lifeboat (Timaru), Pioneer (Wellington), Hope of Cayersham, Hope of Dunodin, Lily of the Valley, and Rescue Lodges, and Bro. Baxter, of Gertt-Hine. As intvny members' are going to the Grand Lodge, it was decided that no meeting bo held next Tuesday.' ;
