AUCKLAND, March 19. a meeting of the Auckland Stock Exchange to-day n. proposal was brought forward in lire direction of altering tho existing system of payment of commission mi sale transactions by charging the buyer and seller a half each of tiio E$ per cent, commission charged In- brokers. A motion adirmiiig the principle of the proposed altnration was carried by 14 to 9, but as a four-fifths majority is required to pass a resolution making an amendment lo the Exchange rules, the proposal as submitted could not lw passed. It will, however, k , introduced at a- subsequent meeting.
