(Received March 19, at 10.53 p.m.) _ In the House of Commons Mr Asquitli (Chancellor of the Exchequer), in reply to Mr Vincent, said many of the causes contributing to the decline in Government stocks and other high-class securities were international in operation. Ho instanced tlio necessity for replacing the capital destroyed by the San Francisco earthquake and other disasters. The best remedy (is far as tlio Government's innuenco was concerned to reduce oxpendittiTe, strengthen the- sinking fund, and avoid borrowing for current expenditure.
