The Waikaia dredgemaster reports by, wire that the buckets parted on Wednesday night d[ last week. Thcv were recovered again','and operations suspended to effect repairs. During tho week 'ended Saturday, March 9, the New Trafalgar dredge had a good run of 130 hour's. The return, however, was a disappointing one, the dtedgeruastcr fully expecting 30oz or over. The dredge was shifted to the top section of the cut, and at time of writing was still working theTe. The wash had been shallow for the past two; weeks', some nf it being as shallow as 2Gft. The shallow ground carried little gold. The dredge was dipping steadily into tho deep ground, and was down to 35ft again, with about 32ft on the top corner. If the basin from which the late dredgemaster got 40az continued, the dredge, it was expected, would have been in it by the end of last woek. The face being worked was 3SOII wide,, with the best wash in the bottom corner. It was intended to stop on Saturday, 16th, to overhaul the screen, which was completely done. Repairing would take about two weeks to complete. The dredge master wired on Saturday that ho had (hen stopped work to effect the overhaul referred lo in his report. DREDGIXfr EETURXS. Only one sale was recorded, the contributing stock being Golden Kmi, and the price 3s. Of individual stocks, Masterlons had sellers only at GO;-, and Muddy Creeks buyers only at a like figure. Mystery Flats (ex div.) had inquiry at 33s Gd, holders responding at 3Gs. Paotoluses were available at 355, but failcd'to attract buying attention. In investment stocks there was again demand for Hank of Nov: Zealand at £10. but the market was evidently devoid of sellers. A sale was made on Saturday in Golden Knit shnres at 3s.
