WOOL SALES.

LONDON, March 6. At Hie Antwerp wool sales there was a good attendance, but a poor selection. Merinos and fmo cros?breds were firm, but prices wero upchtuiged compared with January sales. Medium and ordinary crossbreds wero neglected at Id lower. Seventeen hundred and sixty bales of La Plata were offered and !)G7 sold. DUNE DIN SALES. LAST SALE OF THE SEASON. Tho fourth and last wool salo of tho present series was held in the bonrd room of the Agricultural Hall Buildings, Crawford street, yesterday afternoon. The catalog™ submitted comprifed briween 703 and SOO bales, principally farmers' lots, oddments, lato shearings, and irregular in quality. The attendance of buyers was not so large as lit previous sales, but the bidding, as a whole, was spirited, and good lots rcalisrd the level of prices obtained in February. Competition for indifferent lots was not keen, however and prices for this class of wool wero lower than at crcvous sales. Tho small catalogue was speedily disposed of, and the sale did not occupy two hours. The following reports of brokers givo details of some of the lots offered anil price? realised:— Tho A'ew Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company (Ltd.) report:—Our catalogue comprised 213 bales, tlio whole of which wo quitted under the hammer. Prices wero about on a level with the sales held in February, but the estrcmo figures then secur<-d were, of course, not obtainable at. tho present sale, owing lo the quality of the wool not beiug so good. 'What was offered to-day consisted cliiefly of stragglers' .wool, and values wore tiicrefore considerably affected by the clips being seedy. Our highest price for lrallbred was 13d. 'This was secured ior ft very nice lino of wool from Mr M'Leod's Lome Peak Station. Fine crossbred realised lip to lUd. while halfbred pieces brought 10M, and crosslink pieces 10d. Strouiich, Morris, and Co. report:—We submiiUxl n small catalogue totalling -JO ba'.es and .14 bags. There was a smaller attendance of buyers than usual, several having left for Home, but competition was very animated, and wo had u most satisfactory salo. Compared with previous sales, values all round wero higher, nnd we regret that we had not a larger catalogue to offer. Tho offerings were mostly stragglers and oddments, and oiir top price wa? 13Jd, paid for 2 bales of halfbred. We also sold haltbred at l'»d, 12.U1, and 12d. and crossbred up lo 12Jd. The National Mortgage and Agency Compaiiy of New Zealand report that they sub-

mitted a catalogue of 251 bales, put oi a tofai offering of about 7CO, and: sold tJie lot with the exception of 10 bales. Tksir catalogues was made up of late shorn farwi'-rs' clips and tho final shearing from the weH-known. Teviot Estate, comprising 173 bales, -fliia elicited spirited bidding, and sold na follows : 2 bales half and quarter-bred,-133d; 13 baJds, halfbrod, 11 jd; 18 biiles halfbretl hogget, Hid;' 3 bales second halfbred pieces 9Jd; 19 bales halfbred bellies, 92d; G bales third halfbred pieces, B}d; 9 bales stained linJfbrcd l)ieCo3, 7Jd; 18 bale 3 halfbred locks, o>d; 2 bales fusK combing merino, lid; G bales combing merino, lOJd; 10 tales second merino pieces, IOd; G bales merino necks, lOJd; 10 bales merino bellies, BJdj 7 bales tbird merino pieces, 7jd; 13 balc3 merino locks, CJd; 2 bales combing crossbred, lid. Comparwl with last salo prices wero fully maintained. The Otago Farmers' Co-operative Association (Ltd.) report: There was a, good oliendance of buyers, and prices were about on a par with those ruling at Inst sale, in some, instances a little higher. Our catalogue, being composed of farmers' lots, contained nothing of exceptional quality, ajid we have no high prices to record. For n small line of scoured wool wo obtauied: Ist pieces IGJd, Ist pieces halfbred IGJd, bellies and locks 13Jd. Messrs Dalgoty and Co. report: We offered 150 bales. Thore wag a good attendance of buyers for this lime of the year, and competition for all on ofcr was very good. ■ Thebulk of (bo wool offered was of inferior to medium quality, somo of it being very rough and seedy. For medium and inferior cross: breds prices wore quite equal to those ruling at last sales. Pieceß were alco in good denißiid, nnd brought full rates. Messrs Donald Ueid and Co. report: The ontjies fot thi3 sale ware on a very Jintiieel scale, and consisted chiefly of oddments anct late shearings from stragglers. The condition of the offerings was very irregular. There was a fair attendance of bnyers and satisfactory competition. Considering the ehmactor nnd condition oi the wools very full values , ', wero obtained. The catalogues of the several bickers amounted to some 800 bales. Our own catalogue, which was mado up entirely of oddments and late-shorn clips, contoincd'llO lota—bales, fadges, ond bags. Merino wool sold up to 10d per lb, come-back wool to lHd per lb, crossbred wool to lljd per lb. The demand for pieces and locks was somewhat disappointing, and prices were rnther easier than at our last sale. Pieces sold up lo 8(f per lb, and locks up to 5Jd per lb. Messrs Wright, Stephonson, and Co. report an follows: A total of somo 800 bales was offered to a very large gathering of buyers. Bradford, tho Continent, and tho local trade wero all well represented on the benches, nnd all wore keen, to do business. Our catalogue comprised 101 bales and a largo number of bags. The bulk of the wools offered, as is usual at this tiino of year, were more or less "Beedy," but even this did not appear to retard the bidding, and the prices paid, as compared with-figures ruling at the previous fixtures of the season, in most cases showed a decided improvement. It is rather a difficult matter to draw comparisons between tho prices at which tho clean wools offered in December, January, and February wero sold ami the figures realised, for tho stragglers' wools forward for thin series, bub we- givo our estimate as under:—Merinos, Jd to j<l per lb advance; Lalfbreds, nt par to Aii per lb advance; crossbreds, U to Jd per lb advance; merino and lislfbred pieces, at par to Jd advance; crossbred pieces, at ?.& to Id advaucc; locks, at par.
