FOOTBALLERS' ACCIDENT RESERVE FUND.

The following report, for the season 19fl8 will be presented at the animal meeting in connection with tho Footballers' Accident Reserve Fund: — "In submitting the third annual repot* your conmiitteo can again look back upon the past year's work with satisfaction, anil it feels that the fund is successfully carrying out the objects for which it was promoted. It is pleasing to note that players are^ recognising the benefits of this fund, and this year again shows y marked increase in the number that dtave insured; but thero is still room for improvement, and your committee will not l;o satisfied until it sees efery player taking advantage of the fund. Many seem to think that this fund is a means adopted by-the 0.1t.F.U. of making nMney. But in the lirst place the fund, though receiving valuable assistance front the 0.R.F.U., hs governed by ■ a separate body entirely, ana, from the benefits offered for tho small premium charged, it is easily seen that the player is gelling every consideration, and is offered benefits that' no accident insurance company would offer for double the premium. Your committee trusts that in the coming season the various clubs will use every endeavour lo get all their members to insure. Six hundred and cightv-nine players insured in Class I and 00 in Class If (as against 5.19 nnd 86 in the previous your) nicde up J'-f follows:—Senior town clubs—Class I 381, Class II 51; junior town clubs—Class I 06, Class II 'II; country clubs—Class I 252, Class 114. Totals: Class I, 68); Class 11, OG. Ihw brought in a revenue of Gs Gd, while £2:19 "it's was paid out on GG claims. Dr Williams was again appointed doctor tci tho fund, and the committee is confident that ho has given injured players every care anil consideration, and at the same time looked well after the interests of the fund. The past season was an exceptionally heavy.one, several players receiving the maximum benefit Imm tho fund, while many others were on tho fund for several weeks. Your committee again wishe3 to express to the 0.1t.F.U. its best thanks for tho generous assistance it continues to render to tho fund by granting a donation o! £'115. Your committee also \yi?.he.-. to express its thanks lo those gentlemen who acted as insurance secretaries for the various clubs, and thereby brought the benefits of the fund prominently before tho players, and if clubs will consider when making these appointments and elect an enthusiast thero will be no fear of the Insurance Fiipd being overlooked.
