Tile l'akuna Park Trotting Club commenced its autumn meeting yesterday. There was a fairly large attendance. Ram set in early in the day, making the track very heavy, and continued to fall until before the second last race, when it cleared off. The investments on the totalisator amounted io £3797, or £48 less than on the opening day last year, when the sum handled was £38t5. Tho best dividend was paid on Teddy, the second horse in the Electric Handicap, who returned lub hackers ~1 2s.

Bell Metal was out early in the Trial Handicap, and finally won with a good deal to spare. Little George scored in the Pony Handicap, in whioh some of. tho spectators were not too pleased with Wilkie's display. J.C. trotted a good solid race in the Tahuna Cup. and finally won from Piracy, who had acted badly in the first mile. G.T.F. had tlio Dunedin Handicap practically won wheal a little over a milo had been covered, and one of the finest races ever seen on the track was witnessed in the High-class Handicap. At the start Wild Arab lost a couplo of seconds, and Fusee was always prominent in the load. Ho had Duchess of ltothschild, Success, and Flower Girl pressing him hotly over the first mile, but the ono ho had to keep at hay at tho finish was Willi Arab, and in getting home Fuseo (Price) gavo the most masterly display of reiusmanship that has ever been witnessed on the track. _ Music quickly had tho field in tho Electric Handicap at her mercy, and won casing up. Casey was out in front in the Bracelet, hut was always apparently in trouble with his hobbles, and after going a mile Lettiodale had him well beaten. Tho latter went on and won comfortably from Airedale, whilst Casey, who had mixed all tho way over the last quarter, was third. A good race was witnessed in the final event between Wild Arab and Miss Burlington, but the litter always had a bit Hie liesfc of the deal, and won cleverly at tho finish from the Christchurch Rony. All the events were run well up to programme time. Tho starting was excellent, and tlio handicapping earned many compliments for Mr Gourley, whose accurate judging of tho capabilities of tho'performers produced some remarkably close finishes. M. Edwards, rider of Almond in the Dash Handicap, was fined £1 for coming up to the starting-post before his time. The Kaikorai Band's music was appreciated by everybody. At tlic far turn Ringman had further improved his position, and raced into second place. At the home turn Bell Metal was half ft dozen lengths clear of Ringman. A good finish home look place between the two, and Bell Metal lasted long enough to win by half a length; Lettiedale, a dozen lengths away, third, and Casey fourth. Time, 3min 58scc. On the machine. From that out Littlo George had matters his owii way, and finally won easily by over 100 yards from Punch, who was a couplo of lengths in front of Dayshift; Wilkie, 20 lengths away, fourth. After going a couple of" furlongs Cronje broke badly, and lost several lengths. Sea Lass supplanting him in the lead. At tho end of tho lap Sea Lass was four lengths clear of Cronje; then, a couple of lengths anay, came Osborno R., closely attended by G.T.F. At the end of a mile Osborne R. was a length in front of G.T.F., whilst Sea Lass was a length away, third. G.T.F. and Osborne R. went down the back stretch together, aud at the far turn G.T.F, went on in tho lead. With a lap to go G.T.F. was tour lengths clear o! Osborne R., Sea Lass a dozen lengths away third; the others right out of it.
