It was snbsequntlj- resolved, on tho motion of Mr Israel—"That owing to tho policy of tho board requiring the appointment of four of its own members as managers of the Dunodin Technical Classes, tho board regrets its inability to re-nominate Messrs A: Burt, D. R. Ei'mson, and D. R. White as its representatives, but it fakes the opportunity of thanking those gentlemen for their past zeal and interest in tho affairs of the technical classes, and sincerely hopes that tho change necessitated will not deprivo tho Technical School of their valuable services."

The country local bodies are not at all anxiou3 for tho erection of an infectious diseases hospital at Duncdin. The Chief Health Officer (Dr Mason) called a meeting of delegates for yesterday afternoon, and some 40 odd gentlemen, from Palmerston in tho north to Balclutha in tho south, assembled at tho Town Hall. Dr Mason, who was ably supported by Dr Ogston, mado an earnest appeal for the establishment of tho hospital, and a.skcd tlio representatives to agree to their districts being assessed on a' |iopulation basU for tho initial cost of construction. The representatives, however, were of one accord. They did not want to have anything to do with the hospital, and told Dr Mason so. They refused to agree to paying on the Health Department's assessment, preferring to have the amount of their payments fixed by a stipendiary magistrate.

At the Magistrate's Court, yesterday counsel engaged in an action for tho recovery of 15s 6d asked leave to have the caso struck out, as tho chance of recovering the amount, even if judgment was given, was very remote.
