The twenty-second annual meeting of tho Dimcdin Amateur Athletic Club at tho Caledonian Grounds on Saturday afternoon was well attended, and proved in all respects a popular function. A drizzling rain fell during tho morning and in tho early part of the afternoon, but cleared up in tirno for tho races, which wcto run under favourable conditions., Thero was a. record number of entries, and the fields were in keeping with the entries. The races were a.ll run in good iime. Tho ono department of tho meeting ■where an improvement could with advantage have been effected was tho handicapping. The limits were made far too Urge, particularly in tho athletic and the walking events. This proved to bo one of tho best events of the afternoon, Burk s sprint being the finest exhibition tho public has been afforded for a very long time. M'Douald and Titchener hod a lead of fully 50yds from tho champion when only half a lap from home. Burk, however, let himself go, and so rapidly did he cut down the separating ditlerenco that 110 entered the straight only a few yards behind tho leaders. A ding-dong raco homo onsued, but the odds weio now all in favour of Burk, who. eventually, amidst great excitement, passed' il'Donald, and won 011 tho tapo by about a foot. Ruddock also competed. A great race, and O'Kano bad hard luck in not winning outright.
