STATEMENT BY 'MR TREGEAR. (Fib Uxitm Pmss Amsiwww.) WELLINGTON, January 28. Speaking at the send-off luncheon to iff Belcher, tho season's delegate to tho Maritimo Confereneo in London, Mr Tregear (Secretary of (ho Labour Department), referring to the disappointment recently .suffered by two branches of tho seafaring world, said that, without wishing to in any way appear to bo blaming the Arbitration Court, ho ha<l very great sympathy with tho 111011 in ono or two direotions. Ho added that there would liiivo to bo definite instructions given by the Legislature by whioh it should make sure that tho aot provided somo direction /or making it' clear on what basis tho minimum wage or alny other wage was to bo computed. If there was to bo no profit-sharing, on what basia was it to boV _ lie hail not. the slightest doubt that Parliament would soon Jiavo tho matter presented to if, in a manner whioh would arouso tho deepest interest, and the matter must bo made clear.
