During tho night Jib must have had a fit—he was subject to fit*—and died there. There was much iblood bee'ide the body, whioh was scarcely recognisable, having-been in a hot, close room for a week. Mr Shain had not been mi&sed, as his family and friends beliovcd he was at work in the Upper Tadmor, and the pooplo there thought he was detained Sn town. Tho Publio Works town office is in tho old post ©ffico building, and an officer of Iho Telegraph Department, having occasion to eirtcr an adjoining room this morning, notiood a dreadful smell, but fouud no cause. Late this afternoon ho again went io an adjoining office, and concluded that the cause was in the, locked Publio Works office, and Ik> called tho police, .who broke ojfen the door and made tJx> discovery. The doctor called in stales that death resulted from a fit. The shocking event has created a deep impression, anil there is widespread sympathy with the wife and children.
