CANTERBURY FROZEN MEAT TRADE.
ANNUAL MEETING. CHRISTCHURCU. January 9 The annual meeting of the Canterbury frozen Meat Company was held to-dav. when Sir George Clifford (chairman of director?) presided. The balance sheet showed that tho balance of assets over liabilities amounted to £220,399 15s 3d. The profit and loss statement for thn year showed that the receipts, including £801 17a 3d, balance from Inst year, amounted to £37,289 2s 3d. I'ho expenditure totalled £12,147 6s od. leaving a balance of £24,941 15s 10d. It) moving the adoption of the report and balance sheet tho chairman said that tho large expansion in business during the last year had necessitated enlargements and reconstructions of all the works, wuich would materially assist in their efficiency and economical working. So far as a forecast could at present be made, there was no cause for misgivings to be discerned within thp oolonv. The ample pipply of frown meat, foriast sca-on. to far from depleting the flocks upon which the company draws, had left, as compared with two rears 'ago. an increased breeding flock in the Canterbury district of 300.000 ewe.<, ehowing that a proper number of ewe lambs we're now retained. Outside of New Zealand he wns unable to detect adverse signs, but, it was fair to warn producers that there were circumstances which might compel all freezing companies in make an increase in their freezing charges.
