PRESENTATION TO THE REV. EDGAR WARD.
Last evening being the occasion of his farewoll service, the congregation of St. JTark'B Church, Greon Island, made their vicar » parting present. After service, the congre"atiou remained in church, r.nd the church officer (Mr C. Freeman) made tho presentation, referring in suitable terms to the servicog rendered to St. Mark's l>y ihe Rev. Edgar Ward during the sis years it Lad been under his charge, saying that owing to his qualifications, particularly his ability in the piilpit, it would bo difficult to replace him. Mr Ward carried with him lie good wishes of ■th* congregation of St. Mark's. Mr John Pnnglo also spoke. Ho trusted the congregation would loyally support the lay-readers, who wonld have to take the services until Mr Ward's successor was appointed. Mr Ward feelingly replied, briefly reviewing his work during the period of his pastorate. Tho whole tone of tho proceedings indicated tho warmest sympathy between the clergyman and Ihe congregation. Tho presentation took the form of a purse ot sovereigns and a, silver-mounted umbrella.. Tfccre' was » large congregation present.
