SALE OF DRAINAGE BOARD PLANT.
Mcssra Gecrin, Hally, and Co., auctioneers, Piinees street, report having held a very successful on behalf of the Dunedin Drainage and Sewerage. Board on Wednesday, 23rd iiist., at the board's various depots, Jetty street, Ai'dcraon'a Bay road store, and the pumping etatkn. The lot offered comprised' tho bulk of the sundry machinery and plant used in the expenditure of £'200,000 in tho construction of the main intercepting sewer and other of the board's importiuit undertakings. The principal Jots sold were a two-ton steam crane, £100; two jib cranes, £35 and £14 10s; steam winch, £33; galvanised iron and wood sheds fetched up to £10; flat and round iron, up to £3 per tou; and a. line of scrap iron, ,13 ISs per ton. The remainder of the plant, tools, and used timbers such as ja-rrah, ironbark, blv.egum, and stringy bark, realised sutisiiictory prices. Tho attendance of tho public throughout tho sale- -was large, Wot Coast end North-and South Otago buyers being represented. Competition for almost every line, especially contractors' lots, was keen, aiid the ownership was often stoutly contested.
