CLINTON", December 18. lhe. Hon. Mr M'Nab spoko at Clinton io-nijNit. About 100 persons wore present., and Mr R. Irving (chairman of the Town iioard) presided. The address, which was well received, was on tire lines of former speeches. Tho Minister slated that if it came to a sacrifice of any provision, he regarded tho clause in the bill relating to the removal of illegitimate competition on the part of those who already held land in excess of £15,000 was vital and must go on the Statute Book.

Mr .lames Taylor proposed—"That a hearty voto of (hanks be accorded the Hon Mr M'Nab for his able and lucid address; hut an intelligent jury would like to hear the other side."

Mr John Clarke seconded the motion. Mr ,1, A. Anderson proposed an an amendment a voto of thanks for the address and confideneo in the Ministry. lhis was seconded by Mr Peter M'Rorio. Tho Chairman first declared tho voting even, but a tier a recount declared tho amendment carried.
