MASONIC
Tho ceremony of installing the W.M.elocl of Port Chalmers Marino Lodge, 942, E.G., took place in I he Masonic Hall, Port Chalmers, 011 Friday evening, when there was a iarge attendance, including visiting officers and brtliUMi from sister lodges. A Board of Installed Masters having been formed, the W.M.-elcct, Bro. John Miller, was presenter] and duly, installed into I ho office of Worshipful Master of Port Chalmers Marino Lodge, 942. EX'., by the H.W. Bro, T. S. Graham, D.G. Master, Otago and Southland, K. 0.: assisted by iho 11. \Y. Bro. James Core, D.G.M. N.Z. South. 5.0.; H.W. Bro. D. M'Nicoll, P.O. Inspector, 1.C.: and W. Bro. .Tames Craisr. D.G.S.W., the W. Bro. \V. A. Smith acting as Director of Ceremonies. After the newly-in-stalled master hud been saluted in the various degrees tho R.W. Bro. James Gore, D.G.M.. X.Z. South. S.C.. proceeded to invest the various officers with tho «eal ot office as follows:—lmmediate I'nst Master, W. Bvo. M. Dillon: Senior Warden, Bro. .T. Brandham; Junior Warden, Bro. R. Neil: Chaplain, W. Bro. J. Craig, P.M.: Organist, Bro. A. Bolt; Director of Ceremonies, W. Bro. .T. Klscm. P.M.: \V. Bro. X. Dodds, P.M.: Secretary, Bro. \Y. Gibb; Senior Deacon, Bro. G. R. Murray: Junior Dcacon, Bro. K. Godfred: Inner Guard, Bro. B. Woolsoy; Tyler, Bro. J. Caldcrwood; Stewards. Bros. D. Wooisoy and J. Warden. The address to the W.M. was given by the R.W. Bro. T. S. Graham, D.G.M., K.C.; that to the Wardens by the W. Bro. J. Craig, D.G.S.W.; and lo the brethren by the R.W. Bro. D. M'Nienll, P.D.P.G.M., 1.C., after which the W.M. Bro. John Miller briefly addressed the lodge, thanking tile brethren for the high honour conferred on him by his election as W.M. ol Port Chalmers Marine Lodge. A very pleasing part of the coremonv was the presentation of a Maeonio jewel to Bio. A. JSott,
who has acted as organist to the lodge {or many years. Tho presentation was inado by tho K.W. Bro. T. S. Graham, D.G.M., who referred in eulogistic terms to the Ion"and efficient services rendered by Bro. liotf. Bro. Bott responded in a liappv littla epoeeh, thanlsiny the lodge for the gift, winch, lie said, ho would appreciate and Cherish as a token of tho love of the brethren to himself. The business being concluded, tho lotlg-c ww duly closed in duo form at 9 o'clock, wh'ch the members and visitors adjourned to the Foresters' Hall, where a sumptuous banquet was spread. The various Masonic toasts were <iul.v honoured and responded to. Songs were rendered in very effective style by Bros. RoM). M'Lai-en (encored), Bolt M'l'cak. P.M.. Move, A. Clark, and b! Woolsev, and n recitation by Bros. t T. Hutton and ,T. StevciH, and a very enjoyable evening was spent, everyone present prophesying a lmppy and prosperous year under tho newly-installed master and ofheers.
