ANNIVERSARY SERVICES.

Anniversary services in connection with \Yesley Church Sunday School, North-East valley, wero celebrated yesterday. This was the (irst anniversary of the Sunday school in connection with the now .Methodist Church at Glenaven, North-East Valley, and this circumstance lent an additional interest to the occasion. Tho morning servico was conduoted by-the Rev. C. 11. Laws, of Trinity Church, who preached from St. Mark s Gospel x. 14—" For o£ such is the Kingdom of God." In the afternoon at 3 o'clock the presentation of prizes to tno Sunday school scholars' took i 9 ? O, 'i " ev - A. Allen presided, and addressed the children., His subject was " Light," his text being taken from St, John yin, 12-" I am the light of the world. After Mr Allen had spoken he presented tho prizes, of which there wore a good cumber. Those children who had not gained prizes were presented with text cards. In tho evening at 6.30 the anniversary services were continued, the Rev. D. J. Murray, of Morniiigton, being the preacher. There were large congregations at all of the services, particularly in the evening. The church was tastefully decorated for the day by young ladies of the congregation, and tho collections at, all tlireo services, which are the only source of revenue to the Sunday school with which •to carry on work during the year, were very satisfactory. A feature of the services throughout tho day was the singing of tho Sunday school scholars, under tho baton of Mr A. H. Williams, assisted by an efficient orchestra. The,manner in which the children acquitted themselves evidenced that they had been carefully trained, and ' for a school which had only completed its first year, tho part which the Sunday school ohiklren took in tho day's services reflects credit on all conccrned.
