MOTOR CAR AND TARAM ACCIDENTS.
A LADY Kir,r,ED. (Pir United Press Association.) _ T'JMAUU, September 9. A distressing fatal motor cm accident, occurred on Saturday afternoon. Mr and Aire John jvloiklc wore^ returning'home from toini in a car, The wife, an expert driver, was as usual, in charge, When descending a steep, narrow road on a sido cutting near the house t,ho ear went over a ban!;, and eapmed over a wire fence. Meikle w.n pitched out, and had his . thigh broken. Mrs Meikle was pinned under the car, and suffocated by the weight, on her chest. Some time elapsed before the husband crawled within hearing of the maid son ant at the house. Deceased was about 33 years of age, and leaves 0110 chiifl —a girl of four. AUCKLAND, September 8. A serious accident: occurred on the Home Bay tram lino last night. John Whitehousc, a motonnai;, while looking round, receival a severe blow on the back of tho head from contact with a side pole, and was rendered unconscious for an hour. Tho car overshot tho terminus by two car lengths over tho road, and narrowly escaped death, as his head and bor'" hung loosely over tho side of the car w.*.o passing two more poles.
