(Received Sept. 7, at 11.40 p.m.) The Federal House of Representatives sat all last night and on till 4' o'clock this afternoon dealing with' the harvester duty. ' , Mr Conroy, who was sitting behind Mr Watson, shouted something about a swindle being worked by a Minister of the' Crowii. - - Mr 'Watson heatedly replied, and the two men, who. were, facing each other across the back of, the bench, shouted angrily in each other's faces.
• -The-House was in an uproar, but the Chairman's voice was occasionally heard above, the din calling the members to order. •
Mr Conroy eventually apologised for preating the disturbance.
(Received Sept, 7, at 11.53 p.m.) : In the course- of the discussion on the question of the valuation of harvesters Sir Wi|liam Lvne admitted that his valuation might bo a little, too. high, but, to! come back to £38 wns .too 10w,.. ,
Mr Cook thanked the Minister, and said that it,. was an admission that £65 waß too high., .
After further discussion, the.House fixed the duty .'at £12 on each machine, and agreed to a consequential reduction from £8 to £6 on strippers.' The duty on parts of 'strippers and • harvesters was reduced to ljd per lb. • • ■
