Colonel Mackenzie, speaking at a banquet at Howick (Natal), traversed the events in connection with the recent Zulu rebellion. He declared that there had been a, critical time, and that a single reverso would have meant a general rising throughout the colon}-. PIETEKMAMTZUmW, August 17. (Received August 17, at 10.30 p.m.) All the Imperial troops in Natal are being withdrawn except those* at the remount depot on the Mooi River. LONDON, August 17. (Received August 17, at 10.30 p.m.) The Standard's Durban correspondent states that it is understood that Lord Hgin has withheld his consent to the Natal Indemnity Act became it is both retrospective and prospective.
