The sieamei' l'oil Chalmers, boiiml from Neweaslle to Manila, is reported to have gone ashore at Cape Yorls, in Torres Straits. No details are available.

The Fori Chalmers is «. steel screw steamer of 4100 tons, and is quite a new vmiM, having boon built by 'Messrs Hawthorne, Leslie, oiitl Co., jV'eweastlc, only last year. Sim is owned bv MossrS W. Milburn and Co, Her principal dimensions am as follow: Length, 380 ft; breadth, 49ft-; depth, 25.8 ft.
