The National Mortgage and Agency Company ot New Zealand (Limited) report as follows:—We held our usual fortnightly suJe of hides at our stores, Cumberland street, on Thursday, when wo offered a catalogue totalling 310 hides, 'comprising ox hides, cow hides, yearlings, and calfskins. There was a large attendance of buyers, and competition was very brisk. Comparing this sale with the ono held a fortnight ago. prices for medium and light-weight hides show an advance of Id' to Jd per lb; heavy-weights unchanged, Quotations: Primo stout heavy ox hides. s;d to liid; (rood heavy do. 55(1.t0 sjd; mediumweight do, fijd to 5Jd; light-weight do, to 5^(1; good heavy cow hides, 5Jd to o^d; medium-weight do, sgd to s|d; light-weight-do, 55d to SJd; inferior do, 4{d to pd per lb; calfskins, Is IM to -Is each. Messrs Sironach, Morris, and Co. (Ltd.) report as follows:—We held our fortnightly sale of hides at our stores, Crawford street, on Thursday, when we submitted a catalogue totalling 325. Competition was good all round, and we are pleased to report that lis;ht and medium-weight hides sold at gd to Jd better than last sale. Heavy-weights only held their own, and are not quotably higher. Our top price for ox hides was lijci, and for cow ojd, the former being paid for one weighing 731b. In money value we sold ox up to Jt'l 17s 2d, and cow up to i't Ss Bd. Yearlings and calfskins were very keenly competed 'for, and sold remarkably well. The National Mortgage and Agency-. .Company report having held (heir monthly ht.rse fair in Ward's Bazaar, Core, on the 25th ins.!. The attendance was good and the fa-lo mosv satisfactory. The horses forward were st very good lot. and out of the 52 we offered _we disposed of 33. Young and sound horses were in good demand, and all of this class (hat had any weight sold well. Aged and inferior sorts were hard to scl', buyers 110w.ui.1ys preferring to give the i-stril money for young horses. Wo had several clients for fusi-class young mares, and could have- sold several more had they been forward.
