THE AMAZING IGNORANCE OF MR WM. THOMSON.
TO TIIK KDITOK. Sir.. —It is not easy to sen liow Mr Thomson justifies liis accusnlion that Mi George Dash is amazingly ignorant. Mr Thomson said that Licensing Committees ought to lio guirif'il by section 20 of the act. of 1893. Mr Dasli is right in saying that that section was repealed long ago. Jl is. therefore, evident enough that if anyone has displayed ignoraiieo of the Licensing Ads it is Mr Thomson himself. Jlr Thomson ought, in justice to his employers, to make himself acquainted with the Licensing Acts ■before, he-fakes upon himself to lay down the law to Licensing Committees. It would not take him much time to ascertain what Licensing Acts are in force. Mr Thomson recommends Mr Dash In go to school for a tune. If MiThomson were to go to school again for a time he might, when ho reached the end of his studies, bo better qualified to instruct Licensing Committees than he is at present. It has boon well observed that a liitle learning is a dangerous thing, and the truth of this proverb has on many occasions been strikingly exemplified bj Mr Thomson.—l am, etc., Lex.
