July 10, Mr_W. fi.'Hiildell, S.M., who acted as relieving magistrate during Mr Kettle's absence from Auckland, loft by the Mokoia to-day for Wellington, where his future movements will bo decided. Mr liiddcll sal in the Ma-gistrate's Court Ibis morning. At ihe conclusion of the proceedings his projected departure was referred to by Mr fJiookfield, who, on behalf of the legal profession, stated that he was pleased to lie, able to say that allhongh seme of his Worship's decisions had been adverse lo .him, he always folt that he bad been fair, and that he iiad given satisfaction. Others also spoke in a. similar strain. His Worship thanked tho speakers for their kind expressions, acknowledging the courtesy which had been extended to him.
WBLLINTtTOX, July 10. _ At. tho Anglican Synod, Bishop Wallis said l.hut an oll'ori was being made in Knglnnd to secure a trained evangelist lo continue mission work among the co-operative workers on the North Island Main Trunk railway. If they could not obtain a man at Home, the Synod would have to use the host man they could find among themselves.
