CASUALTIES.

Mr John G. Gilliand. manager for Mr John Keppcl, fiaxmiller, at Olokia, met with a nasty accident on Monday last. Mr Gilliand was engaged in putting in a, new drum in a stripper, when he slipped, and his hand was caught in the machine, wilh the result that two of the lingers on the loft hand were hadlv crushed, and cut. Luckily for Mr Gilliand the niachiiio was not working at. the time. At first it' was feared that Mr Gilliand wou'd loso bolh fingers, but on medical aid being obtained it was found that they could be saved.
