SIR JOSEPH WARD.
MISSION TO THE UNITED STATES. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, June 27. (Received June 27, at 11.7 p;m.) Sir J. C. Ward 1 declines to discuss the political situation, and says it is due to his colleague and the country that the first- expression of his cnnoral views of the altered situation should be made in New Zealand. Sir Joseph Ward will interview President. Roosevelt and Mr Cortelyon with a view of e'lahlishing penny postage between New Zealand and America, believing that a- restricted union between Englishspeaking people would be an immense factor towards the establishment of universal pennv postage. He will also propose a reciprocal treatv between America and New Zealand on the basis of tile ?xcha'iu'c of wnol and certain articles not produced in New Zealand, such as salmon.
Sir Joseph will also see the San Francisco mad contractors in order to ensure the regularity of the service and a more uniform connection -with England.
