FATAL RESULT OF AN ACCIDENT.
BUTCHER'S ASSISTANT ARRESTED FOR MANSLAUGHTER. On Iho afternoon nf Match 29 nn elderly woman, named Elizabeth M'Coniehey. was knocked down by a butcher's carl. at. the corner of (ireat King street and Unun street and injured. Serious consequences were not anticipated, but Mrs M'Coniehey, who was 80 years of age, died on Wednesday night. The driver of the cart (Robt. Brown) was arrested after tho accident for drunkenness, and charged at the City Police Court, with being drunk while in charge of a vehicle, for which he was fined.
At the inquest, the jury returned a verdict that, the deceiscd met her death through having been knocked over by a horse and cart driven by one Robert Brown, he then being unfit lo have control of such horse and cart, being under the influence of liqour. Immediately after tho inquest. Tirbwn was arrested by Rorgennt Gilbert on a charge of manslaughter, and now stands committed to the Supreme Court for trial. - J =
