The Star's Rarotonga correspondent writes:—"Reports to hand from Northern Island show that leprosy is making headway in tho islands of Manhiki, Makahanga, and Peniiiyn. while at Palincrslon Islands there is one suspicions case—a boy --to safeguard. The Resident Commissioner has issued an order prohibiting, under heavy penalty, tho introduction to the Cool: Islands by the master of any vessel a person known or suspected to bo leprous. In addition, the Commissioner has annointed places of .isolation for persons affected in Iho islands of Manhiki, Makahansa, and Palmcrston. The report of Dr Pomare is awaited with much interest. It is felt that strenuous measures must he taken to cope with, the disease."
