COLONIAL NAVIES
Press Association—By Telegraph-Copyright. LONDON, April 14.
(Received April 15, at 4.55 p.m.)
Admiral Fitzgerald, writing in the National Review, urges British statesmen to recognise colonial feeling in favour of a locally-owned and locally-controlled navy, based on broad Imperialism. He advocates the immediate remission of the colonial money contribution without charging for the distribution of the Imperial warships, leaving the Commonwealth and other colonies to do as they choose in the direction of starting navies of their own, Britain lending suitable ships and instructors. Admiral Fitzgerald is confident that the colonial navies would bo available to fight for the Empire whenever they were most wanted.
