FIRES.

MAIITON, March 5. A fire at Marion at 2 o'clock yesterday* morning completely destroyed a shop and a two-storeyed dwelling'owned and occupied by Messrs Lovegrove Bros., painters, also a shop and dwelling owned and occupied by Mrs A. F. Shaw, fruiterer and grocor, and two shops, v.-ith a dwelling, owned by Mr T. 11. Brodin, grocor. One of these shops was occupied by tho owner, (he other by.Miss Cormack, milliner. Tha Marton Hotel, also owned by Mr Bredin, and Mr J M'Eldowney's establishment were only damaged. The dwelling owned by Mr Brodin was occupied by Mr J. Gunn. The furniture belonging to Messrs Lovegrove Bros, and Mrs Shaw was destroyed. Considerable damage was done to Mr Bredin's stock. The splendid efforts of tho brigade saved the adjoining buildings. The insurances are:—Mr 'P. H. Brodin— Stock £1600. building (destroyed) £150 in the Liverpool and London and Globo office. Tho other shop, which was considerably damaged, was insured in tho New Zealand office for £300. Mrs Shaw's stock was insured for £150 in the Liverpool and London and Globe office, and the shop for £100. Tho dwelling was insured in the Standard office. Messrs Lovogrovo Bros.' insurance was £450, on tho furniture, dwelling, and stock, in the. Liverpool and London and Globo office.
