Tho annual meeting o£ the Mornington Association Football Club was hold on I'riday evening in the Morninglon Council Chambers, Mr J. Emalie occupying the chair. There was an excellent, attendant i of members, about 60 being present.

The Chairman moved that the balance sheet ('hewing a credit balance of £2 193) and the annual report (as already published! be adopted, ami in some well-chosen remarks icieried In tho excellent work don« by the club last. year, and expressed his pleasure at the enthusiasm displayed by both old and young members. The following office-bearers were circled for tho ensuing year:—President, Mr .1. F. Arnold, M.H.R.; vice-presidents,— Messrs 3. F. lienton. W. Henderson. .T. C. Seelve, S. B. Martin, E. K. NieoUon, H. A. LcCren, W. Davidson, J. Biaith-tt-ait-o, pen., C. .1- Pa.yne, A. H. Grinling, T. Sneddon, J. P. Simon. J. Annand, E. T. Clark, and ministers: secretary. Mr R. Kotman: t rcasuror, Mr D. Anderson: captain, Mr D. liailcy; deputy-captain, Mr T. young; training captain, Mr H. Grenfell; General Committee—Messrs D. Stalker, G. Hickey, 11. Grenfell, D. Scott, and R. Kil. Roy; Selection Committee to consist of fhree iion-playing members to flic chosen by the Genera! "Committee and captains of respective teams; delegates to 0.F.A., Messrs D. Stalker and T. Young; delegate to O.F.A.'s weekly meetings, Mr D. Stalker, delegate to O.A. Protection Association, Mr R. Kilroy. 'J'lurty-lwo new members were proposed and elected. # The Chairman said that. I lie bvsmcGs bav. inrf been practically concluded, lie bad a most pleasant duty to perform—that, in lecordanee with Ihe usual custom of the tlub, of presenting medals to the best allround player in each of the schools in the district, which lie considered one of the best forms of encouragement. In making the pres-entatiGn to V Kcllv. of Mornington School, and F Taylor, of High Street, School, the Chairman said that lie trusted the ■winners would appreciate the gifts not only for their value, but because they had been gained on the approval of their head masters and by the votes of the members of the schools. Ho also referred to Mr R. A. Farquharson. the recently-selected Rhodes scholar, who had been a prominent plaver for the club for many years. The club now took iho opportunity of conveyiii',' its hearty congratulations, and ho fell assured Mr Fn.n|uharson would carry with hjm the good wishes of all the members. The Chairman also spoke at some length on the improvement of grounds, ami said that the Mornington ground was,the first to be considered by the association, because, it. was noticeable ;liat- a good section of the public attended the ground when good matches were in progress. Estimates of the cost were also obtained, but were found to be altogether too expensive, the amount required for the Morninglon ground being sufficient to improve all that was necessary in some of the other grounds. However, Iho association was willing to assist in the matter of improving tho ground to tho extent of a good sum if the district could raise £20 or £30 to assist. He urged all members to do their best ill tho forlhconiiiii. bazaar, to be held in Slay, and if they could raise the necessary £20 or £30 above tho cost of their pavilion they would be in a. good way towards Jiavinjj Ibeir ground improved. Ho trusted that talisfaoforv arrangements could be made with the Cricket Club to curtail its season so as to allow of the necessary improvements being made. The Chairman concluded his remarks with a brief allusion to "clean sport."

Mr Soundy also spoke of the amount of good (hat Association football had done with regard to cricket, and pointed out the scarcity of grounds and tho great difficulty of playing 15 matches on 12 grounds, as it was thus necessary to play two matches oil some of Ihe grounds. In these instances referees bad (o officiate at both watches, which was perhaps too much to expert from one referee. Ho earnestly urged Ihe co-operation of the members in tho mailer of referees, and would ask all ox-players to heln the. O.F.A. in this direction In- ioimng the Referees' Club. Thanks were returned by Mr S. Hannah to the members of the Second and Third teams for their peculations of photos of their respective team.

_ 'Vote? of thanks were parsed to the retirir,L' members nf committees, to the Referees' dub thy Mr T. Young), to the pre=« for tbe groat, publicity it bad given to the doings of Iho club and Association football m general, and to the Mornington Borough Conned for Iho use of rooms. A. hearty vote of thanks and cheers for the worlhy chairman concluded the most entliu. Elastic and successful meeting yet hold.

ROSLYX ASSOCIATION CLUB. The following is the annual report of the Boslyu Association Football Club:--In presenting this, the eighteenth annual report, your committee regrets that it cannot congratulate the club on the position attained last season. The club put three teams into iho field, but the results were hardly gratifling. The First Eleven played 13 matches, winning four, losing six, and drawing three; points for 31, points against 43. The Second Eleven played 15 matches, winnin-r four, losing eight, and drawing three; while the Third Grade only managed to win one match. During the ]iast season a team representing New Zealand toured New South Wales, and in this team our dub bad Ihe honour to be represented by Messrs S. N. Brown and E. Newman. A team representing (he province also travelled to CiiriFtchurch and met the local representative team there. In the Otago team cur club »■«" most worthily represented by Mr J. D. Clark.

In addition to his usual generous donation our worthy and esteemed president (Mr J. Smcaton) very kindly donated an extra amount to procure a club trophy. This trophy was to be awarded to the most consistent trainer and improved player, blit as no player merited this distinction your committee will, with the president's consent, hold it over to Benson 1900.

lii connection with (raining, the committee have to express their keen disappointment at the iota! lack of interest in this niost important feature of the club's work. Sincn Iroimug has been neglected this club has steadily deteriorated in play, and it is a lamentable fact that, indifferent as the results ot the IM-i sea.=on were, the past 1905 season was much worse, although (ho absolute necessity of training lias been brought before the members on so many occasions. Unless consistent training is indulged in the play and results of the various teams will be of a farcical nature, and when wc remember the splendid reputation your club enjoyed (or so Jiiniiy years, it is most, regrettable that no elicit is made by the members to keep it up. "We Hitirrrely hope that all menibors will in flic coming season realise and be keenly alive to lb:- no:essity of improving the play by a careful attention to training. There 13 "the jnaierial in the club, which, with the necessary training, could considerably raiso the present standard of play and it only rests with members to do justice to their club and themselves by attending to those duties, which latterly liuvo been so regrettably neglected. The club still maintains its sound financial position. The sum ot .£l9 4s passed .through flic treasurer's hands, while expenses amounted to £15 4s, leaving a credit balance of it. beside? which there are several outstanding subscriptions. It is to be hoped that all overdue stihseripiions will be speedily paid as the expenses of the last season have been Very heavy.

As a fitting termination to the season, 'lie club's animal social was held in St. Paul's Schoolroom on September 28. and was much eirjoved bv ladv snnporters and members genera llv.

!p June a carnival, promoted by the Olago Football Association, was held, and the Rosiyn Club had charge of a stall, over which Mesdsmes Kemnitz and Draithwaite presided, and to these ladies, and to those who so generously ami untiringly gave their assistance, the best thanks of the club is due, as it was almost solely through their efforts that the Hoslyn Club had thci honour of contributing the largest sum in comparison -with other clubs to the Inking? of the carnival. The object of the carnival was to provide funds for improving grounds, and the O.F.A. has spent a considerable sum on the Asylum Ground, which, formerly only a patch of clay, is now covered with a good grass, besides being well drained. These improvements will be much appreciated by the players during the coming season.-

II is with great regret that we have to •nununce the rc'iring of Messrs S. X. Brotsn »':<! If. J). Siedeberg from (he club's ranks as piavii'u members. Mr Brown's Mine has been avocia'ed with the affairs of Ihe club for so I('HS !li?.t lu> seems to hive been o, member since its inception, and it has lieen most. EnitHyinc; to the members that bo, as one of fheir_ fellow players, should have repreFPi'.'ecl his province and the colony on so many occasions. Though Mr Brown has retired from active service on the football field, his name sml reputation will not soon be forgotten in Hie annals of Association football here: and fins club may well be proud to have numbered in its ranks one whose name has been, and still is. a household word as regards excellence i)i this form of sport. Mr Siedeber<i. though not an old member, has been a moat useful one, and his resignation, with Mr Browii'«, will be accepted with regret. Members are reminded that their thanks are due to the Kaikorai School Committee for the use n! the (raining room, the Roslyn Council tor the use ot the Council Chambers for the annual meetings, to the press for report? oil Ihe progress of the club, to tho Iteferees' Club for supplying referees for the Matches, and to Mr M. Waters for generously granting the use of » room lor committee meetings.
