LANCASHIRE AND YORKSHIRE SOCIETY.
Tbrf •sixth of a series of basket socials by the Lancashire mid Yorkshire Society ww held 011 Wednesday evening in the Trades Hail, when'a'large and varied programme, Intermixed, with (lancing, was carried out. In making the meeting the success it proved to bo, valuable assistance was given by tho Misses Msya.ll and Master MnycU (Quartet, violins, mandolin, and piano, selection), Masters C. and 1?. Fryo and Miss Frys (duet, violins and piano, " Kenilrorth "), Mr Q. Goodwin (sltetoh), Master C. Fryo (comic songs), Mr Walton (dialect rending ami recitation), T\Tr 0. Frys (dialect readings), Mr C. Abbott (song and humorous sketches), aad Mr TOithou (song). Mr 11. Beasley presided. Mr Jackson, jun., and Mr YV. Heck, jnn., supplied tho njusic for dancing and acted as accompanists, and -Mr Jackson and Mr Terry officiated aa M.C.'s. A number of newcomers were welcomed by the society. The musical items by the junior members were well worthy of special mention, mid, judging by tho continued sueMPs of the meeting?, there was ample; justifi< cation for the inauguration of such a societj as the Lancashire and Yorkhire.
