AN ASHBURTON PIONEER.

The statue to Mr .John Grigs, of Long* beach, who was one of the pioneers of the frozen meat industry in Canterbury, was unveiled to-day by the Chairman of the. County Council in the presence of a largo and re-, presentative gathering. The statue is of Sydney stone, with a. life-size fiquro of Mr John Grig?, and cost £720. This is the fourth statue in Canterbury, the others bcin." in Christehiircli-i.c., the Queen's, Moot" hou.se, and Godley.
